Fort Erie International Academy (4) vs King’s Edgehill School (1) East U18
Liam Nash scored the opening tally in this matchup for King’s Edgehill but was instantly matched by FEIA’s Isaak Samson a mere 12-seconds later. FEIA’s offence continued to flourish in the second as Matys Lefebvre netted the go ahead goal on the powerplay halfway through the frame. KES couldn’t find the twine in a tightly knit third as FEIA would go on to net two EN goals to seal up the Sunday victory. After surrendering the opening goal, Timothee Fengos (27/28) was perfect and racked up a total of 27-stops.
RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (2) vs Edge School (3) U17
Edge School was all over RHA Winnipeg in the first, outshooting the Manitoba-based squad 21-5, however would only exit the first up 1-0. RHA Winnipeg would display some push back in the second, evening up the shots and tying the game early, but a pair of goals from Darius Odermatt and Winston Chicilo (1G, 1A) kept Edge in the lead. RHA Winnipeg would acquire a late goal in the third on the man advantage from Casey Mitschke (2G) but it was too little too late. Emerson Popil (32/34) picked up the win while Zaiden McDonald-Horvath (42/45) posted an impressive 42-saves in the loss.
Notre Dame (5) vs Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (7) U17 Prep
The offence was gelling for both teams in this Sunday showdown. PMHA got on the board first with the lone goal in the first, but would go on to explode in the second, scoring four unanswered after Notre Dame tied things early. Notre Dame would go on to outscore Pilot Mound in the third, but the dent left from the Buffaloes offence in the second was too much to surmount. Jack Perrier (2G, 1A) led the charge with a pair of goals while Brody Wytinck (4A) supplied four assists from the blueline for Pilot Mound.
Delta Hockey Academy Green (1) vs Shawnigan Lake School (3) Female U18 Prep
In a rematch to Saturday’s matchup, Shawnigan was able to flip the script and get back their previous loss to Delta Green. Emma Kohl opened the scoring for Delta Green in the first but was quickly matched by a Zoe Cramer (1G, 1A) goal before the ice clean. Shawnigan could carry on in the second as Taya Lonsdale (2G, 1A) nabbed her second of the weekend to put Shawnigan ahead. Lonsdale would add the insurance marker in the third, securing Shawnigan’s win and capping off a three point performance. Former Delta goaltender, Alix Walchuk (30/31) picked up the win in goal versus her former team, steering aside 30-shots.
Edge School (4) vs RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (2) U17 Prep
Edge School continues to tighten their grip on the U17 Prep division with a 4-2 victory over their Prairie rivals in Winnipeg. After remaining tied through one, Edge would explode for three unanswered in the third, ignited by a powerplay marker from Ashton McCann. This would go on to be the difference maker as RHA Winnipeg was able to tally one more back in the third. McCann, the Okotoks, AB native, has only failed to find twine once this season and is currently sitting at 16-goals on the campaign.
RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (4) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (6) U18 Prep
Ty Nessler got NAX on the board first with a shorthanded effort but was matched shortly after with a penalty shot goal from Trystan Hunter. NAX’s special teams continued to be a stronghold in this match as Jackson DeGraves (1G, 1A) would net a powerplay goal late in the first to put the Xtreme ahead through twenty. River Arnason (2G, 1A) would chip in a pair through the second to put RHA Winnipeg ahead by one but a late powerplay goal from Liam Eisnor tied things up before intermission. What was setup to be a nail-biting third lived up to its expectations.An early NAX goal would go on to be matched by Layne Schofield later in the frame. However, a late surge from NAX wrapped up this contest as Maddox Rose scored the go ahead goal shortly after Schofield’s marker. Ben Deacon would put a bow on it for NAX, scoring an EN to wrap up their weekend in the win column.
Delta Hockey Academy (0) vs BWC Academy (3) U17
For the opening forty, BWC Academy had complete control, outshooting Delta 22-14 with a 2-0 lead heading into the third. However, Delta would switch things around for the final frame, mustering 18-shots on net, but failing to find twine as Liam Kellett (36/36) posted a perfect performance in goal for BWC Academy. Leonardo Lee’s opening goal would stand as the game winner as the Yellowknife, NT born goaltender, Kellett, recorded his first shutout of the campaign.
RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (6) vs South Alberta Hockey Academy (1) Female U18 Prep
39-seconds into play, Ava Hrubeniuk opened the scoring, recording her third goal of the weekend as RHA Winnipeg begins to find their form. RHA Winnipeg would add another two in the second, continuing to blank SAHA through two periods of play. SAHA would snatch one in the third, but another three goals from RHA Winnipeg put this game to rest. Rowyn Street (1G, 3A) led the scoresheet with a four point effort while Payton Chornley (2G, 1A) nabbed two goals and an assist. In surplus, Bailey Schwartz (39/40) posted a respectable effort in the win, steering aside 39 of 40-shots thrown her way.
RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (3) vs Edge School (8) U15 Prep
Edge School’s offence showed no slowing down in a Sunday tussle with RHA Winnipeg. Charlie Tobin (2G, 1A) got the scoring started with a shorthanded goal early on, sparking a chain of five unanswered goals for the Calgary, AB based school. This five goal spread included two points from Matteo Dufour (1G, 1A) as he made his U15 Prep debut for the Mountaineers. RHA Winnipeg would stop the bleeding with two goals in the second, but each were matched by Edge School, refusing to give RHAW any room in this contest for a comeback. Teams would once again swap goals in the third as Edge School goes on to take this game 8-3, improving their overall record to 9-1-1-0.
Wenatchee Wild Hockey Academy (1) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (8) U17 Prep
Led by a hat-trick effort from Maxx Parfitt (3G, 1A) and a five assist performance from David Aggen (5A), OHA was able to clean up a routine win over Wenatchee on Sunday. Luke Assi (1G, 3A) would also provide four points in the win while Marcus Domhof (2G) and Landon Nagle (2G) each potted a pair. Sean Strasser would go on to score the lone goal on the powerplay for Wenatchee.
St. George’s School (2) vs Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (4) U18 Prep
The first period played out steadily as Amadeo Sim and Trace Anderson (1G, 1A) would split the scoring between St. George’s and PCHA. The scoring would remain the same till the start of the third where scoring would start to pick up. PCHA got the early jump as Roman Lavery and Ben Wetterberg (2G) would nab a pair just over three minutes apart. Sam Auld would spark some life for the Saints on the powerplay with six minutes left on the clock. Despite a late push, Wetterberg would put away the empty netter to seal up the win for PCHA. Sam Siskiw (29/31) picked up the win in the crease as PCHA closed their weekend off in the win column.
Balmoral Hall School (2) vs Edge School (3) Female U18 Prep
Edge School came into this contest guns a-blazing, scoring twice in the opening frame to establish a two goal advantage into the second. However, Balmoral would make things interesting after Madeline McKay (2G) netted a pair of her own in the frame to tie things up heading into the third. The final frame would see constant pressure from each team but the game winner came early as Edan Crowe scored just 1:44 into the period. Edge would go on to hold off Balmoral’s potent offence with high praise to Alexis Ehrman (22/24) making 22-stops throughout sixty to close out Edge’s weekend over the Blazers.
North Shore Warriors (4) vs Delta Hockey Academy Black (5) Female U18 Prep
Delta Black was sitting pretty in this matchup with North Shore as they were able to establish a 5-1 lead part way into the third with a strong offensive outing from Addison McFegan (2G). However, North Shore wouldn’t show any quit in the late stages of this contest, scoring three unanswered in the late stages of the third, eventually making things 5-4 with three minutes to spare. North Shore would continue to push but couldn’t clinch the game tying goal. Sonja Reed (30/34) would make 30-saves in the win.
Prairie Hockey Academy (2) vs Rink Hockey Academy Winnipeg (4) U15
A first period goal from Owen Hirst (1G, 1A) and an early second period power play marker from Beck Van Kemenade gave RHA Winnipeg a 2-0 lead. Tristan Reimer (1G, 1A) would get Prairie on the board late in the second with his 11th goal of the season. Shea Streu scored the eventual game winner 5:40 into the first though Jakub Palmer quickly countered for Prairie. Declan McNicol added an empty net goal with 12 seconds remaining to double the lead and give RHA Winnipeg the 4-2 win. Blake Mitchell (48/50) and Conner Aldag (50/53) were in net for their respective teams.
South Alberta Hockey Academy (2) vs Prairie Hockey Academy (4) U18 Prep
Griffin Horne and Cole Fisher traded first period goals before Ty Krooshoop and Hubert Larose (1G, 2A) did the same in the second as the game was tied heading into the final 20. Kale Pratte broke the deadlock with a power play goal midway through the third and Noah Kelly added another power play goal two minutes later as Prairie grabbed a 4-2 lead. Micah Davidson (39/41) would make 13 third period saves to secure the Prairie victory on Sunday.
Delta Hockey Academy (0) vs Shawnigan Lake School (2) U18 Prep
Liam Ryan (33/33) stopped all 33 shots he faced for his first shutout of the season in a 2-0 Shawnigan win. Thierry Demers provided all of the offence Shawnigan would need with a power play goal 13:07 into the game. After a scoreless second, Delta would get a late power play chance in the third to try and even the score but Easton Sangris (1G, 1A) scored a shorthanded, empty net goal to secure the Shawnigan victory. Greyson Moroz (40/41) made 40 saves in the loss.
Calgary International Hockey Academy (11) vs Indigenous Sports Academy (0) U18 Prep
An impressive five goal, seven point game from Noah Milford (5G, 2A) paced the CIHA offence to an 11-0 win over ISA. Lincoln Martin (5A) added five assists while Cage Smith (2G, 2A) chipped in with four points. Sartaj Dhami (26/26) made 26 saves for the shutout, his first of the season.
STAR Hockey Academy (6) vs North Shore Warriors (3) U15 Prep
Despite being outshot 13-5 it was North Shore who held a 1-0 lead after 20 as William Thompson (2G, 1A) scored a power play goal midway through the period. STAR would come flying out the gate in the second as Braxton Baker (3G) tied the game 1:55 in and Brody Lukinbill and Deacon Wilson scored 14 seconds apart to give their team a 3-1 lead less than five minutes into the period. Thompson brought North Shore within one 2:11 later before Baker and Edward Kemp traded goals as it remained a one goal difference, this time in favour of STAR, heading into the final frame. Lincoln Angst gave STAR some breathing room early in the third and Baker completed the hat-trick with an empty netter as STAR secured a 6-3 win.
Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (2) vs OHA Edmonton (9) U18 Prep
Jaden Mah (1G, 1A) scored the lone first period goal and Briggs Olson added a power play marker 1:04 into the second as Pilot Mound grabbed a 2-0 advantage. OHA Edmonton would wake up and take over the game from there as affiliate Keenan Fox (3G), Braydon Franks (1G, 2A) and Parker Fitzgerald (1G, 2A)scored second period goals. OHA Edmonton would erupt for six goals in the third with Hunter Yee, Cash Brebant (1G, 1A), Callum MacLean, Ben Shaw and Fox finding the back of the net.
Okanagan Hockey Academy (2) vs Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (3) U17
Rylan Bengert and Blake Sanderson each scored their fourth goal of the season within the first few minutes as the game was tied early. Ollie Halowaty gave OHA the lead heading into the second period with his fifth goal of the season. Kyle Rushton and Kaelen Rusjan scored 3:33 apart midway through the second as PCHA erased the 2-1 deficit and took a 3-2 lead. Logan Maclean (33/35) and Tyson Kuiack (30/33) kept clean sheets in the third period as the game ended exactly as the third started, 3-2 in favour of Pacific Coast.
Wenatchee Wild Hockey Academy (2) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (13) U18 Prep
OHA outshot Wenatchee 64-28 en route to a 13-2 win Sunday. Tucker Robertson (3G, 2A) recorded a hat-trick, Eli Tverdovsky (1G, 4A) had five points of his own and Jackson Roberts (2G, 2A) and Bradley Schmidt (2G, 1A) each scored twice for OHA. Dylan Crossley and Cal Kellenberg scored for Wenatchee in the loss.
Yale Hockey Academy (5) vs Shawnigan Lake School (3) U15 Prep
A power play goal late in the first by Carson Peet (2G, 1A) gave Shawnigan a 1-0 lead heading into the intermission. Yale found themselves down a man again midway through the second but this time their penalty kill came up big as Parker McMillan (1G, 1A) scored shorthanded to even the score. Matthew Zaitchikov (2G) put Yale ahead just 3:12 later with his seventh of the year. Peet tied the game 8:35 into the final frame before the Yale penalty kill struck again with Michael Kuzik (1G, 1A) restoring the lead. Tony Cabelka doubled the lead 1:10 later and Zaitchikov scored his second 1:27 after that. Ben McKamey would give Shawnigan late life with his second of the season but Yale ultimately held on for the 5-3 win.
Okanagan Hockey Academy (0) vs RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (4) Female U18 Prep
Ava Drabyk (29/29) outdueled Jorja Moore (28/32) in a 4-0 RHA Kelowna shutout victory over OHA. Ava McLeod (2G) and Kaitlyn Mallette scored 39 seconds apart early in the first as RHA Kelowna grabbed a quick lead. McLeod added her second of the game and eighth of the season midway through the opening period. Alida Korte (1G, 2A) scored shorthanded in the second before a scoreless third to round out the scoring.
Prairie Hockey Academy (3) vs Notre Dame (2) U17
After a scoreless first period Kase Gellner (1G, 1A) gave Prairie the lead 6:14 into the second. Ryder Pisiak tied the game less than three minutes later and a power play goal by Cyril Herauf (1G, 1A) 29 seconds after that saw Notre Dame grab the lead. Cohen Greenwood (2G) replied for Prairie with a power play goal of his own to even the score heading into the final period. The game seemed destined for overtime until Greenwood found the back of the net again with just 46 seconds remaining to give Prairie the 3-2 win.
STAR Hockey Academy (3/OT) vs St. George’s School (2) U15
A highly competitive first period saw Luca Rogers give St. George’s the 1-0 lead with a power play goal. Huntley Keatley tied the game with a power play goal of his own midway through the second period. Liam McLean added another power play goal for St. George’s early in the third as they regained the lead. Josh Rzonca tied the game less than three minutes later with the game’s first even strength goal. After 60 minutes of play solved nothing, Daniel Trifunovic scored 55 seconds in as STAR grabbed a 3-2 win despite never leading in the hockey game. Hayden Solomko (34/36) made 34 saves for the win while Hudson Waddell (53/56) faced 56 shots in the loss.
