BWC Academy (1) vs North Shore Warriors (0) U15
Scoring came at a luxury in Friday’s opening game between BWC Academy and the North Shore Warriors. For the first two frames, both Tyson Oake and Benjamin Boudreau would remain perfect. It wasn’t until part way through the third till we would see our first goal as Eric Prexler got BWC Academy on the board. NSW would pepper Oake with all they had, but the Coquitlam, BC goaltender remained perfect through all sixty minutes of play, picking up the win and his first shutout of the season.
Fort Erie International Academy (4) vs Mount Academy (1) East U18
Brett Krtanjek (2G, 1A) got the ball rolling early for FEIA, resulting in a one goal lead through twenty. Mount Academy’s Jansen Guitard was able to knot things up early in the second, giving Mount some life. However, late in the frame Krtanjek would strike again, putting FEIA ahead once more into the intermission. FEIA wouldn’t look back in the third as Isaak Samson struck on the powerplay to double their lead, ultimately going on to be this game’s insurance marker. Timothee Fengos (29/30) would rack up 29-saves in the Friday win for Fort Erie while 2010-born goaltender Cedrick Provencher (38/42) posted a 38-save performance in the hard fought battle.
King Heights Academy (6) vs Okanagan Hockey Ontario (3) East U18
OHO would hold on to the lead through one period of play, but would have to fight to stay afloat in the second as King Height’s started to roll out the artillery. In a span of less than three minutes, Zakhar Puzriakov (2G), Murad Safarov and Vytas Lenkutis would all score to put King Height’s in a comfortable 3-1 lead. OHO would manage to claw back in the third thanks to scoring efforts from Tom Boudet and Jeremy Clark, but King Height’s offence would surge once again. Puzriakov and Tyler Koss (1G, 1A) would score 30-seconds apart to restore the two goal cushion before Roman Morillas (1G, 2A) put the game to bed with an empty netter. Cole Minthorn (39/42) made 39-saves in a huge King Height’s win, improving their overall record to 3-1-0.
Prairie Hockey Academy (5) vs Rink Hockey Academy Winnipeg (4) U15
Kaleb Crowe walked away with the lone goal in the first for Prairie off a breakaway feed from Keaton Bauck (1G, 1A). Noah Delaurier (1G, 1A) would double PHA’s lead just 33-seconds into the second. RHA Winnipeg would begin to show some pushback as Bo Sabourin and Eli Wasyluk (1G, 1A) would tie the game up in the latter half of the second. However, Bauck would tally one more before the ice clean for PHA, giving them the lead into the ice clean. PHA and RHA Winnipeg would go on to trade goals in the third with the eventual game winner coming off of Tristan Reimer’s stick, which would also count as his tenth goal of the campaign. PHA would take the 5-4 win with high regard for Conner Aldag (53/57) between the pipes as he posted a miraculous 53-save effort in the victory.
Balmoral Hall School (4) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (3) Female U18 Prep
Balmoral Hall and NAX would split the scoring in the first as Maddie Kaiser (2G) and Hailey Sitter found the scoresheet. Balmoral would catch their groove in the second, scoring two unanswered thanks to another from Kaiser and Shayna Bannister. In the third, NAX would push to tie up the event after Miika Cutknife scored on the powerplay. Madeline McKay (1G, 2A) would restore Balmoral’s two goal lead shortly after but a penalty shot goal from NAX’s Madison Brazeau (1G, 1A) made things interesting in the final moments of the contest. In those final seconds, Lauren Cherkas (36/39) would stand tall and secure the win and keep Balmoral’s perfect record intact.
Shawnigan Lake School (5) vs North Shore Warriors (2) U15 Prep
After Chase Murgatroyd got Shawnigan on the board first, NSW would strike back with two late goals to exit the first out on top. Early in the second frame, Baden Glithero would restore the score for Shawnigan. As minutes ticked down Shawnigan kept up their pressure and were eventually rewarded with a powerplay goal from Darwin Ketch (1G, 1A). Shawnigan would pot another two unanswered in the third, wrapping up this contest by a score of 5-2. Donagh Esler-Twiss (33/35) was in net for his second consecutive victory, racking up 33-saves in the process for a total of 86-saves in his last two.
Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (5) vs BWC Academy (6) U18 Prep
Jonathan Bitonti (1G, 1A) may have opened the scoring for BWC Academy, but their hopes started to dwindle early as they surrendered four unanswered goals in the first frame to PCHA. Trace Anderson added another to PCHA’s lead in the second, wiring one from the slot under the left arm of Adler Ames (16/17) who came into the game in place of Noah Sinagowitz (12/16). Down four now, BWC Academy had to dig deep to keep their hopes alive… so they grabbed their shovels. Shortly after Anderson’s powerplay marker, Max Malinousky would polish off a beautiful three-way passing play to jubilate his team. Before the end of the frame, Max Kelly (1G, 1A) would release a wrister from the point to cut their deficit down the two before the ice clean. Into the third, BWC Academy didn’t lose momentum. Trevor Oishi ripped one off the rush to make things 5-4, then Charlie Robinson roofed a backhand to tie things up at 5-5. Shortly after Robinson’s tying goal, Hunter Ashton would bury home one in front to give BWC Academy their first lead of the match since the opening goal. Ames would go on to hold on in the crease and BWC Academy clinched the massive comeback victory over their Vancouver Island rivals.
Calgary International Hockey Academy (5) vs Edge School (3) U15
After a scoreless first, CIHA’s powerplay got to work, opening the scoring up in the second with three unanswered goals on the man advantage. Brody Antigani (2G, 1A) would stop the bleeding for Edge in the third but was quickly answered by Eric Sexton (1G, 1A) and Kale Okubo, once again on the powerplay. Edge would score another two in the latter half of the third but it was too little too late. Alexandre Montembault (25/28) would make 25-saves and would register an assist in the win.
North Shore Warriors (6) vs St. George’s School (3) U18 Prep
Both teams remained knotted up at 1-1 after twenty, but an early surge from NSW in the second was the difference maker in this contest. Tristan Hoko sparked a three goal chain for the Warriors as they went to establish a 4-1 lead. London Taylor (2G) would grab a pair of powerplay goals for St. George’s to close the second but another two goals would find the back of the net for NSW in the third. Matteo Paradiso (2G, 1A) led the way with a three point performance while Jan Lucan (3A) picked up three assists from the blueline.
Shawnigan Lake School (4/SO) vs Delta Hockey Academy Green (3) Female U18 Prep
Katie Olfert (2G) opened the scoring for Delta Green with the lone first period goal. Meera Smith (1G, 1A) scored her first goal of the season to tie the game 1:15 into the second. Niayah Morris and Olfert would score two straight to close out the second and give Delta Green a 3-1 lead heading into the third. It looked as though Delta Green would hold on as they continued to hold a two goal cushion with under three minutes remaining but Cassandra Kehler scored with 2:10 left and Lola Macuiba (1G, 2A) tied the game with 56 seconds remaining on the clock to force overtime. Shawnigan would complete the comeback as Taya Lonsdale (1G, 1A) scored 10 seconds into the extra frame to give Shawnigan the 4-3 win. Alix Walchuk (24/27) made 24 saves against her former team.
RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (4/SO) vs Delta Hockey Academy (3) U17
RHA Kelowna (17-1-0) was put to the test against Delta (5-5-2) in what ended as a 4-3 shootout victory for the visiting side. Delta led 2-0 early in the second as Santiago Skinner scored in the first and Logan Pankhurst (1G, 1A) added his fourth of the season 1:54 into the middle frame. Mason Alexander got RHA Kelowna on the board 1:30 later with his seventh goal of the season. Aiden Andrews tied the game with a power play marker and Zander Zorn scored 1:24 later as RHA Kelowna grabbed a 3-2 lead heading into the third. RHA Kelowna seemed destined to hold on to the lead until Ewan Torrance found the back of the net with just 22 seconds left. After OT solved nothing, Kaustav Pradeep scored in the fifth round of the shootout to give RHA Kelowna the 4-3 win. Griffin Jones (32/35) and Lynden Mercier (39/42) were in net for their respective teams.
RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (3) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (4/SO) U18 Prep
Chayse Johnson (29/32) and Louis Gu (30/33) kept clean sheets in the first as the game remained tied after 20. Maddox Gandha and Brady Walker (2G) scored back-to-back goals early in the second as RHA Kelowna opened up to a 2-0 lead. Maxx Parfitt quickly responded for OHA and Tucker Robertson (1G, 1A) scored his seventh of the year late in the period to level the score. Charlie Grant (1G, 1A) gave OHA their first lead 6:36 into the game and it looked like it would hold until Walker tied the game with 1:02 remaining. After overtime solved nothing, Eli Tverdovsky and Robertson both beat Gu with clean shots while Johnson stopped both RHA Kelowna shooters to give OHA the victory.
Edge School (5) vs RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (2) U17 Prep
Ashton McCann (4G, 1A) scored twice in the opening period to give Edge the 2-0 lead after 20. Gavin Quennell (2G) would accomplish the same feat for RHA Winnipeg in the second, scoring two power play goals to even the score. McCann completed the hat-trick 58 seconds into the third with a power play goal, the eventual game winner. Jack Bissoon doubled the lead less than three minutes later while McCann added an insurance marker minutes later to complete a five point night. Kyle Oakenfold (3A) and Eric Wagman (3A) each had three assists in the win.
Delta Hockey Academy Black (2) vs North Shore Warriors (3/OT) Female U18 Prep
After a scoreless first Kiernan Ledoux broke the deadlock 32 seconds into the second with a power play goal. Castilla Rubin (1G, 1A) evened the score heading into the third with her fifth goal of the season. A power play goal by Camille Birch put North Shore ahead for the first time Friday but Emily Kempers scored her first of the season less than five minutes later to tie the game and force an eventual overtime. In OT, defenseman Lily Zohner (1G, 1A) scored against her former team to give North Shore the 3-2 win. Haylie Hedges (24/26) made 24 saves to earn the win.
Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (2) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (13) U18 Prep
NAX (5-0-0) remained perfect on the season with a 13-2 thumping of Pilot Mound (2-3-0). Easton Doran (1G, 2A) got the party started just 11 seconds in as part of a five goal first and eight straight goals through 40. Briggs Olson (2G) would score twice in the third to break the Nate Stevens (24/26) shutout bid. Jackson Degraves (2G, 4A), Carter Ellsworth (3G, 3A) and Jake Walker (1G, 5A) led the NAX offence with six points each.
RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (2) vs Edge School (1) U17
Zaiden McDonald-Horvath (43/44) made 43 saves to backstop RHA Winnipeg to a 2-1 win over Edge School. Atticus Cruz (2G) scored 4:37 into the first and again 6:33 into the second as RHA Winnipeg led 2-0 after 40 despite being outshot 26-14. Edge would fire 18 shots at McDonald-Horvath in the third and they would finally be rewarded 8:31 into the frame when Henry Doucette scored his fifth of the season. Edge would push for the late equaliser but would come up empty in the 2-1 loss.
Prairie Hockey Academy (13) vs Indigenous Sports Academy (3) U17 Prep
Junior Sun opened the scoring just 54 seconds in for ISA but Bryden Wagner (2G, 1A) responded 3 seconds later as Prairie scored 8 straight en route to a 13-3 win. Nixon Friesen (2G, 1A) and Soren Hayden (2G, 1A) each scored twice while every single Prairie skater had at least a single point in the win.
RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (22) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy Black (0) Female U18 Prep
All but one RHA Kelowna skater recorded at least one point while five different skaters recorded hat-tricks in a 22-0 win. Alida Korte (3G, 3A), Jillian McLaughlin (3G, 2A), Ava McLeod (3G, 1A), Callie Rice (3G), and Kennedy Sisson (4G) all recorded at least three goals in the win. Ava Drabyk (14/14) made 14 saves for the shutout.
Notre Dame (1) vs Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (4) U17 Prep
A goal 9:47 in by Collin Friedrich (1G, 1A) gave Pilot Mound a 1-0 lead. Jack Adams (2G) and Henry Holt traded second period goals as it remained a one goal game heading into the third. Adams would double the lead midway through the period before Jack Perrier added an empty netter to secure the 4-1 Pilot Mound win. Barrett Hayes (22/23) and Jessy Cormier (28/31) were in net for their respective teams.
OHA Edmonton (1) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (8) U15 Prep
NAX (11-0-0) proved once again why they are the top ranked team in the U15 Prep division as they beat the fourth ranked OHA Edmonton 8-1. Brady Ondrus opened the scoring 3:40 in but Artello Forestal responded for OHA Edmonton just 21 seconds later. However, it was all NAX from there as they scored seven unanswered. Defenseman Cruz Jim (4A) led all skaters with four points while Kalen Miles (3A) and Nolan Wolitski (3A) each had three point games.
Notre Dame (2) vs Prairie Hockey Academy (4) U17
Notre Dame led 1-0 after 20 as Brandon Thompson scored 4:32 into the first. Tyson Ross (1G, 2A) tied the game just 29 seconds into the second with a power play goal and Aiden Masse gave Prairie the lead 1:07 later. Robbie Williamson evened the score midway through the period with a shorthanded marker, his third goal of the campaign. Kashton Smith (1G, 1A) scored the game-winning goal on the power play 2:56 into the third, Felix MacMillan added an insurance marker and Cole Fox (20/22) finished with 20 saves as Prairie doubled-up Notre Dame 4-2.
RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (2) vs Edge School (3) Female U18 Prep
Samantha Baker and Sara Hettle scored 10 minutes apart as Edge led 2-0 after 20 minutes of play. Ava Hrubeniuk scored the lone second period goal to bring RHA Winnipeg within one heading into the third. Jana Mitenko doubled the lead before Morgan Barenz quickly cut it back in half but a 32 save performance from Alexis Ehrman (32/34) saw Edge hold on for the 3-2 win.
Calgary International Hockey Academy (8) vs Notre Dame (0) U18 Prep
CIHA outshot Notre Dame 60-10 and scored four power play goals en route to a 7-1 win Friday. Easton LaPlante (1G, 2A), Noah Milford (1G, 2A), Cage Smith (1G, 2A) and Jake Wideman (3A) all had three point games while Townes Kozicky (2G) scored twice in the win. Rio Minotti scored the lone Notre Dame goal while Jack Hunter (52/60) made 52 saves in the loss.
RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (5) vs OHA Edmonton (6/SO) U18 Prep
River Arnason (4G) scored 49 seconds in as part of a first period hat-trick as RHA Winnipeg held a 4-2 advantage after 20. Kaden Wilkins (2G) scored the lone second period goal to bring OHA Edmonton within one heading into the final period. Ben Shaw tied the game with a shorthanded marker 13 seconds into the third. Arnason would put RHA Winnipeg back on top with his fourth of the game and eleventh of the season but Wilkins would strike again to even the score and force overtime. After five minutes of scoreless 3-on-3, Calum Giese and Nolan Schmidt scored in the shootout and Parker Snell (38/43) stopped two RHA Winnipeg shooters as OHA Edmonton grabbed the 6-5 win.
Okanagan Hockey Academy (1) vs RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (2/SO) U15
Griffin Prairie Chicken (71/72) stole the show stopping 71 shots through 65 minutes of play before stopping five more shooters in the shootout to give RHA Kelowna the 2-1 win. After a scoreless first Jake Gates scored the lone second period goal to put OHA ahead 1-0. Dexter Labrecque tied the game early in the third with his second goal of the season. Kyle Schierling would score in the sixth round of the shootout to give RHA Kelowna the improbable 2-1 win.
South Alberta Hockey Academy (8) vs Indigenous Sports Academy (1) U18 Prep
In the final game of the night SAHA outshot ISA 65-27 in an 8-1 win. Owen Brees scored a power play goal 7:35 into the game as SAHA scored just once in the first despite firing 21 shots at Ethan Lewis (57/65). Josiah Jackson (1G, 1A), Cole Fisher (1G, 2A) and Sutton Verot all scored in the opening half of the second as SAHA started to run away with the game. Emery Medicine Shield would halt the run late in the second but Ty Hynes (2G, 2A) and Ty Wasyluk (2G, 1A) each had a pair of goals in the third as SAHA pulled away for an 8-1 win.
